Ans: Arthu Rimbaud presents a fine picture of a valley in his poetry "Asleep In The Valley". The Valley is small but it looks beautiful with green grass. A slow stream flows leaving silvery sand on his bright grassy bank. The Sun's rays stream from the mountain top and filled the hollow full of light. A young soldier lies asleep open mouthed on the green grass among the undergrowth of the valley. The pale soldier lies stretched on the warm, green, sun soaked bed. He sleep in peace with his head on the pillow made of fern. In fact the entire valley receives the beauty of nature.
(2) Give the substance of "Asleep In The Vally".
Ans: In Arthur Rimbaud "Asleep In The Valley" a young soldiers lies open-mouthed on the green grass among the undergrowth of a valley. A slow stream flows leaving silvery sand on his bright grassy bank. The Sun rays filled the hollow full of light. A pale soldier lies stretched on the valley. He sleeps at peace with his head on the pillow made of fern. He has the smile like an infant without any guile. The poet request Nature to keep him warm so that could may not catch him. At the end the reader (everybody) is soaked to see bullet wonds. It reveals the brutality of war and the tragic death of the soldiers.

He sleeps in peace with his head on the pillow made of fern. His feets are among the flowers. He has a guileless smile like an infant. He sleeps in sunlight and one hand on his breast. But yet, the soldiers sleep at peace shock the reader because the eternal peace. The rest which reveal at the end of the poem.

Ans: In Arthur Rimbaud's "Asleep In The Valley" is a poem about war. He had first hand experienced of war and understood the futility of war. To him, war is nothing but butchery of youths. In this Poem the poet has revealed the cruelty of war and his sympathy for the death of the young soldier through the expressions as "Pale in his warm, green, sun-soaked bed", and in his side there are two red holes. The hypocrisy of the politicians have been expressed through the description of the guileless smile of the young soldier. The soldier here represent all the hopeless who are trapped to court the premature death.
(5) How does this picture of the soldier describe the tragedy of war? Explain it.

A pillow made of fern beneath his head and one hand on his ad breast his feet among the flowers. He has a guileless smile like an infants. It seems that there is nothing wrong with the soldier. Suddenly the reader is shocked to find the bullet wound's marked by blood in his side. Then we become conscious of the tragedy of war. The soldier is not asleep he is dead The two red holes reveal the brutality of war and the tragic death of the soldier.
